Cake Boss Bakery Completed, New Restaurants: South Jersey Business News in Brief

SOUTH JERSEY — A decade of desserts has come to an end as famed “Cake Boss” bakery Carlo’s Bake Shop closes its South Jersey bakery. Despite the bittersweet farewell, more dining establishments are on their way to the area, including a Philly-famous Italian bakery and a few national chains expanding their presence in the Garden State.

Bakery “Cake Boss” closes permanently

“Cake Boss” Buddy Valastro’s South Jersey bakery has closed for good. Carlo’s Bake Shop opened in Marlton Square ten years ago and expanded Valastro’s baked goods business when he appeared on the reality show “Cake Boss.” Read more on Patch.

Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers to open soon in Cinnaminson

The opening of Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers in Cinnaminson is fast approaching. The retro-style restaurant is expected to open in early November, barring any unforeseen delays, a Freddy’s spokesperson told Patch. An opening date has not yet been set. Freddy’s has hundreds of locations across the country, including three in New Jersey. Read more on Patch.

Traditional bakery from Philadelphia opens location in Haddonfield

Cacia’s Bakery, a long-established Italian bakery in Philadelphia, has a new location in Haddonfield. Cacias has been in business in South Philly for over 70 years, specializing in Italian breads and rolls, stromboli, and homemade pies, cakes and cannoli. The bakery also has a few locations in South Jersey with deli items and specialty hoagies. Read more on Patch.

Approved by Lazy Dog Restaurant

Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar, a chain of family-friendly restaurants with a Rocky Mountain theme, got the green light to build a restaurant in the Moorestown-Mount Laurel area. It will take time to complete because the shuttered Tex-Mex restaurant will be demolished. Lazy Dog expects to open in late 2025, a spokesperson told Patch. Read more on Patch.
