The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) said that 42 km of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor is now operational with the addition of this eight-km section, covering nine stations from Sahibabad in Ghaziabad to Meerut South in Meerut.
RRTS Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor: Great news for commuters in Delhi-NCR region as Meerut South RRTS station was opened for passengers on Sunday and Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor will be extended by another eight kilometres.
In a statement, the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) said that 42 kilometres of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor is now operational. This eight-kilometre stretch includes nine stations from Sahibabad in Ghaziabad to Meerut South in Meerut.
Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor timings
According to NCRTC, Namo Bharat trains will run on the entire route from Sahibabad to Meerut South from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm.
The first train in both directions will depart at 6 am and the last train will leave the Sahibabad and Meerut South terminus stations at 10 pm, it said.
Fares for Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor
The concessionary single fare for Namo Bharat trains is Rs 110 for standard class from Sahibabad to Meerut South and Rs 90 for standard class from Ghaziabad to Meerut South, according to NCRTC.
Parking at Meerut South Railway Station, other facilities
The Meerut South RRTS station will have the largest parking facility in Uttar Pradesh along the RRTS corridor, thereby increasing the convenience of passengers, it said. The two additional parking bays on either side of the station’s entry/exit would have an area of about 13,000 square metres and could accommodate around 1,200 four-wheelers and two-wheelers, it said.
The NCRTC added that a dedicated parking space has been provided for auto-rickshaws. The station is directly accessible from the main road as it is designed in such a way that entry and exit of vehicles coming from Meerut and Delhi is easy.
To accommodate differently-abled passengers, the station has a designated parking space and ramps for easy access so that they can travel comfortably on Namo Bharat trains, it said.
Gateway to Meerut
According to NCRTC, Meerut South Railway Station serves as a gateway to Meerut and facilitates travel for commuters from Mohiuddinpur, Bhudbaral, Bahadurpur, Aminagar, Chhajjupur, Kharkhoda, Kadarabad and surrounding areas.
With the inauguration of Namo Bharat train service from Meerut South, passengers would be able to reach Sahibabad in around 30 minutes, it said.
Besides RRTS trains, the station will also serve local metro services for the Meerut region. The station has three tracks – two for RRTS trains and one for metro services – on three platforms. The station consists of three levels: ground floor, mezzanine, concourse and platform. It is about 215 metres long, 36 metres wide and 22 metres high, the statement said.
According to officials, the entire 82-km Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor will be operational by June 2025.
