NEW YORK, NY — Two lucky lottery winners take home the modest sum of $50,000 — in other words, the third-place Powerball prize.

One of the coveted tickets was purchased in Brooklyn at 477 News & Tobacco, 477 Myrtle Ave.

The other was purchased in the north of the state at a 7-Eleven in Ogdensburg, 1117 New York Ave. Imagine getting a lottery win with your slushie? That’s a great end to the summer.

The winning numbers for the Powerball game are drawn from a field of 1 to 69. The Powerball number is drawn from a separate field of 1 to 26. To win the jackpot, players must match all five white balls in any order and the red Powerball number.

Powerball tickets can be purchased seven days a week at any New York Lottery retailer for $2. The deadline to purchase a ticket is 10 p.m. on drawing nights.

Drawings take place every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 11 p.m. and the New York Lottery recommends that players purchase their tickets early to avoid last-minute lines.
