Former Philadelphia Phillies legends like Charlie Manuel and Ryan Howard return to Citizens Bank Park for Alumni Weekend

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Alumni Weekend with the Philadelphia Phillies concluded on Sunday as fans cheered on their favorite players from each era.

During the festival weekend, over 40 former players came by and took part in the festivities.

The crowd roared with applause for former Phillies greats such as Mike Schmidt, John Kruk and former team manager Charlie Manuel.

Manuel also brought along some of his players from the 2008 World Series, including Ryan Howard, Jimmy Rollins and many other former Phillies.

The exciting weekend also marked the 20th anniversary of the Phightins’ games at Citizens Bank Park.

Action News had the opportunity to speak with some Phillies legends who described what it was like to have their dream job.

“It’s timeless, just timeless,” Howard said. “This is another one of those places where the atmosphere and the aesthetic are unmatched.”

“It’s louder than any other baseball stadium I’ve ever played in. And our fans give us the energy we need. I’ve been saying that since I’ve been here,” Manuel added.
