A shocked shopper has compared Kroger to a science fiction movie after discovering a scary scene during his recent visit to the supermarket.
Customers have been complaining for years about long queues, empty shelves and problems at self-checkout counters in some stores – but rarely do all of these and other problems occur in one place.

A Michigan man recently recounted an unpleasant shopping experience at his local Kroger while maintaining his sense of humor.
“Ah @kroger it’s hard to say what the best thing about you is,” The Harlowe Monster (@HarloweShannon) began the X-post.
“At first glance, you might think the empty shelves and aisles crammed with shopping carts look like something out of a post-apocalyptic movie,” he said.
But that wasn’t the worst part.

“I was there yesterday and the music was so loud that the few customers covered their ears,” he said.
The image of isolated customers covering their ears while rummaging through the sparse selection of items in a brightly lit store might indeed seem eerie.
Or maybe not.
“And that was pretty cool,” concluded the Harlowe monster.
According to his social media profile, the X-User is a podcaster, puppeteer and musician.

A Kroger representative promptly responded to the user’s complaint in a comment on the post.
“Hi! We are sorry about this and thank you for bringing this to our attention,” Kroger wrote.
“Please send us a private message with your contact details and the exact address of the store so we can escalate the matter. Thank you.”
However, it seems that the changes at the national retailer have not particularly worried shoppers.
“Don’t change, you big beautiful animal,” he wrote in response to the store comment.
