Woman murders lover at police station, arrested

Chennai: A Woman urged her lover to death in Perungudi Railroad station on Saturday evening and tried to pass it off as a natural death. The police on Sunday arrested Muniammal, 50, charged with the murder of 60-year-old Shankar.
According to police, Shankar, a resident of Marutham Street in Perungudi, separated from his wife Sushila a year ago and married construction worker Pazhaniammal. The couple started quarreling a few weeks ago after Pazhaniammal found out that Shankar was having affairs with many women, including Muniammal. Shankar then left home and slept at the Perungudi MRTS station.
On Saturday, he met Muniammal and the two are said to have consumed alcohol before going to sleep at the railway station. The next morning, Muniammal alerted the railway police that Shankar had died in his sleep and that it might have been due to excessive alcohol consumption.
Shankar’s son Karthik became suspicious about his father’s death and filed a complaint with the Thiruvanmiyur Railway Police, who sent the body to Govt Royapettah Hospital for post-mortem. The report revealed that Shankar had died due to a fall with head injuries, leading the police to suspect Muniammal.
Police checked CCTV footage from the area and found that the duo were involved in a verbal argument. The fight escalated when Muniammal attacked Shankar and pushed him to the ground, causing severe head injuries that led to his death.
Muniammal then took Shankar’s body to the place where he usually slept to make the death appear natural. After being accused of murderAccording to police, she already had a previous conviction for theft.
