A video of an airport employee stripping naked to go through a security scanner in protest against the harsh security practices has gone viral.

Georgy Myakinkin, 31, who works at the airport in the city of St. Petersburg in northwestern Russia, had finished his shift and was on his way home when he realized that he had left his keys at work.

Accordingly news.com.auHe said: ‘I was returning to the airport and was in the area where the trains arrive with passengers when I was stopped and asked to remove my belt before going through a scanner.

“I know the rules and I know that there is no need to be so strict here in the pre-flight area and that the security people were simply too harsh.

“When I refused and told them I just wanted my keys, they called the police.”

When the officers arrived, they also asked him to remove his belt, whereupon Georgy undressed completely before going through the scanner at St. Petersburg Pulkovo Airport.

He was then allowed to get dressed and leave, but later he realized that the video had leaked and he had become a hit on the Internet.

The Russian Interior Ministry’s Transport Department in the Northwestern Federal District said it was currently investigating the alleged security breach.

According to the MirrorA spokesman said: “We are investigating the matter and have nothing further to say at this time.”

George himself has filed a complaint against the police over the leaked video, adding: “I know they only leaked it to embarrass me, but I’ll have the last laugh.”
