Opening of the new dog grooming shop in Shrewsbury just a few days away

Opening of the new dog grooming shop in Shrewsbury just a few days away

Elly Saville held an open day at The Canine Coven to show potential new customers her business on historic Fish Street.

And Elly promises that her new venture will bring something “slightly edgy” to the city centre business scene.

Ellie, 33, said: “I just like being around dogs. They make me happy and calm.”

She has over 10 years of experience in dog grooming, including three years as a teacher and mentor for 200 people.

Saturday’s open day went well for Elly, who lives in the town and is taking bookings from August 27.

Her mother Rachel Saville will accompany her and help her in the shop, where Elly promises to give the pampered dogs “everything”.

Elly first knew that she wanted to become a dog groomer when she did volunteer work in a pet shop before starting her studies.

She studied special effects make-up, but then decided that it wasn’t for her and trained as a dog groomer.

However, she says that she knew she wanted to have her own salon when she was 18.

Elly says Saturday’s open day generated lots of enquiries, so she’s off to a great start.

“I have dedicated the last decade and more to learning and gaining as much experience as possible to provide you and your dog with the best grooming experience,” she said.

She is also committed to environmentally friendly and vegan products and uses, among other things, shampoos that have not been tested on animals.

Elly adds that it may seem “a bit strange” to promote vegan products in a dog salon, but she believes it’s about preventing harm from happening to the world.

You can visit the salon’s Facebook page and call them on 07861 163499 if you need more information.
