Woman stabbed to death in West Sussex train station car park

A woman was fatally stabbed following an altercation with a man in a train station car park in West Sussex.

Police responded to reports of a disturbance in Station Way, Crawley, at around 7.10am. Officers discovered the woman in the car park with multiple stab wounds.

Paramedics attempted to treat her, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Shortly afterwards, Sussex Police arrested a 26-year-old man from Crawley on suspicion of murder. Officers arrested him on Stephenson Road, about a mile from Station Way. He remains in police custody.

Superintendent Rachel Swinney said police are not looking for any additional suspects in this incident.

She described the stabbing as tragic and highlighted the loss of a young woman’s life. Superintendent Swinney assured the public that officers had quickly arrested a suspect and stressed the increased police presence in Crawley as investigations continue. She encouraged anyone with concerns to speak to officers at the scene.

The woman’s identity has not been released and authorities are trying to contact her family.

Forensic officers were still on site hours later and police presence in the area is increased.
