The retailer filed for bankruptcy under the U.S. Chapter 11 bankruptcy system on August 11.

The company confirmed that many of its stores would be closed with immediate effect.

“I was speechless when I heard this,” wrote one customer on Facebook.

“That’s not a good thing to hear,” said another user.

At least 94 of LL Flooring’s more than 300 locations will soon be closed permanently.

According to the retailer’s website, there will be closures in 31 US states.

The company, known as Lumber Liquidators before its name change in 2020, was founded in 1994.

After the bankruptcy filing became known, customers expressed their anger in droves on social media.

“I wish it would stay open,” said one shopper.

“Prayers for the flooring,” read another comment.

“Unfortunately, only the beginning of many more companies.”

As The US Sun previously reported, LL Flooring hopes to restructure the company and sell it to one of the “multiple bidders,” according to a press release.

While the closure of nearly 100 stores is imminent, customers have been assured that operations at the remaining stores will continue as usual.

Charles Tyson, president and CEO of LL Flooring, said the bankruptcy filing was in the best interest of the brand after the company continually struggled with inflation rates, labor costs and changing consumer habits.

“Today’s move is intended to provide LL Flooring with additional timing and financial flexibility as we reduce our physical footprint and close certain stores while pursuing a sale of the remainder of the business while continuing operations,” Tyson said in the press release.

SHUTDOWN

LL Flooring is not the only company in the United States that has struggled with financial difficulties this year.

Big Lots announced that nearly 300 of its stores will close later this year due to debt problems.

With at least 289 stores forced to close, the retailer will see a nearly 21% decline in stores nationwide.

Customers expressed their sadness about this announcement on social media.

“I’m so lost, I LOVE THIS STORE,” one person said.

“Crazy, I love big prizes,” commented another.

“Many companies are closing or filing for bankruptcy,” said a third user.
