Submissions for the Working at Height Awards are open

Applications are now open for the inaugural Working at Height Awards ceremony, which will take place on November 20th following the Working at Height conference in Nashville.

Created and organized by ALH and the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF), the Working at Height Conference & Awards is a brand new event that ALHs long-lasting ALH Conference and awards with IPAF’s annual North American Innovate event.

Details of the Working at Heights Conference
  • The Working at Heights conference focuses on technologies and work processes that create safe and productive working environments. Presentation topics include:
  • Keynote speech by a senior executive of a large car rental company
  • Safety and human factor when working at height
  • Emergency preparedness and rescue plans for working at height
  • MEWP accident statistics: How does the USA fare?
  • Panel: The role of technology in working at heights – Industry experts discuss access control technology and the use of data to manage the safe use of machinery
  • Panel: Cultivating a safety culture
  • Training and Technology – The latest developments in e-learning (advantages and limitations) and VR/AR training
  • Choosing the right PPE
  • Leaving altitude – how to comply with the regulations

Registration to attend the Working at Height Conference & Awards is now open and can be completed here.

The all-day conference will focus on the use of MEWPs and how rental companies can improve productivity and safety on the jobsite, followed by an awards dinner celebrating excellence and innovation in the North American access and rental industry.

Eight categories will recognize new product launches and technologies, innovations in safety, rental-related awards for sustainability and more. The deadline for companies to apply is September 3. Categories include:

Innovations in safety when working at height – OEM/Supplier
  • To an access equipment OEM or supplier who has made a significant contribution to safety when working at height through initiatives, innovations and/or commitments over the last 18 months. This can range from internal company initiatives to developments that promote or enable safety when working at height across the industry. Download the form here.
Innovation for safety when working at height – non-OEM supplier
  • To a non-OEM access equipment supplier who has made a significant contribution to working at height safety through innovative MEWP safety attachments, devices or accessories over the last 18 months. Download the form here.
Innovations for safety when working at height – Rental companies
  • To a rental company that has made a significant contribution to safety when working at height over the last 18 months through initiatives, innovations and/or commitment. This could include, for example, safety promotion campaigns, the introduction of new technology or training initiatives. Download the form here.
Landlord of the Year
  • For an equipment rental company that demonstrates innovation and success. Companies must have MEWPs in their fleet and will be judged on their approach to safety, training, marketing MEWP rental services, new technology, customer service and other initiatives. Other relevant areas include the company’s efforts to enter new MEWP markets and its financial performance. All rental companies, large and small, are welcome to apply. Download the form here.
Technology Innovation Award
  • The Technology Innovation Award is given for a new technology used in the field of work at height. This could be a new software innovation, the use of IoT systems, telematics, the application of AI or a technical innovation in a MEWP product or telehandler that has enabled a significant leap forward in the industry. The jury is looking for innovative equipment, components or technologies that have helped rental companies or other equipment owners improve their business. Download the form here.
Sustainability in leasing
  • This award is open to any company that has made a significant contribution to sustainability in the MEWP rental industry with its latest products, services or initiatives. OEMs, rental companies, training specialists, technology providers and other relevant organizations are welcome to apply. The jury is looking for groundbreaking solutions, projects or programs that demonstrate how a company is adapting its business and/or products for the present and the future. The award covers topics around workforce development, the environment, the energy transition and the impact on local people and communities. Download the form here.
New product award – scissor lifts
  • For manufacturers who have launched new scissor lifts. Judges will consider equipment launched from March 2023. Download the form here.
Award for new product – aerial work platforms
  • For manufacturers who have launched new aerial work platforms. The jury will consider equipment launched from March 2023 onwards. Download the form here.

Judging is based on the nomination information provided and the judges’ industry knowledge and experience. The judges review the nominations received for each category and rank them accordingly. The quality and completeness of the nomination information received is of critical importance.
