The Warminster Food Bank, a nonprofit that helps people in Bucks and Montgomery counties who are experiencing food insecurity, received an offer from local philanthropists Gene and Marlene Epstein to match their donations to help purchase additional commercial refrigerators, freezers and other supplies. The Epsteins have offered to match donations dollar for dollar up to $10,000 through August 30.

Purchasing additional commercial refrigerators and freezers will allow the food bank to collect and store more perishable foods such as fruits, vegetables and meats. This will allow the food bank to offer healthier options to its guests.

The Epsteins are longtime residents of Bucks County and decided to donate the amount when they learned about the work of the Warminster Food Bank.

“We spoke with representatives of the Warminster Food Bank and were very impressed with the efficiency of the organization, the dedication of its large group of volunteers and their tireless commitment to the communities it serves,” said Gene. “We felt that a matching donation to purchase additional commercial refrigerators, freezers and other much-needed items was the best way to help the food bank meet the ongoing needs of the people it serves.”

“We are very grateful to the Epsteins for their offer to match donations for this fundraiser,” said Mike Cerino, executive director of the Warminster Food Bank. “The funds will allow us to purchase the additional equipment we need to store and eventually distribute more fruits, vegetables and meats to our guests. With food insecurity being an ongoing problem in our communities, commercial refrigerators and freezers will help us improve the lives of our guests.”

The Warminster Food Bank provides food to over 15,000 people each year, donated by businesses and individuals. Donations and volunteers are always welcome. Visit warminsterfoodbank.org for more information.
