-AAA South-

Gas prices in Georgia fell another cent compared to the previous week.

The average of $3.22 is also 14 cents below the value a month ago and 41 cents below the value of the previous year.

It costs drivers an average of $48.30 to fill a 15-gallon tank of regular gasoline. Georgians pay $2.00 less to fill up at the gas pump compared to a month ago.

“Last week’s slight increase in crude oil prices offset the earlier decline in gasoline prices and dampened hopes for cheaper fuel this week,” said Montrae Waiters, spokeswoman for AAA-The Auto Club Group.

Local average prices on Monday were $3.13 in Floyd County, $3.12 in Gordon County, $3.17 in Bartow County, $3.08 in Chattooga County and $3.20 in Polk County.

National

Gas prices continue to fall

Since last Monday, the national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline has increased by 3 cents to $3.41 (Subject to overnight changes).

According to new data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gas demand rose slightly last week to 9.04 from 8.96 million barrels per day. At the same time, total domestic gasoline inventories fell to 222.2 million barrels from 225.1 million barrels. Gasoline production fell slightly last week, averaging 9.7 million barrels per day. Weak gasoline demand and stable oil prices could lead to further price declines at the pump.
