DULUTH, Minnesota (Northern News Now) – Drivers can expect slower traffic on I-35 in Duluth this week.
MnDOT crews will close I-35 overnight to install signs for the Twin Ports Interchange project.
- Monday, August 19: I-35 southbound from 5th Avenue West to 27th Avenue West will be closed Tuesday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. A detour will be in place via 5th Avenue West and then Superior Street to 27th Avenue West.
- Tuesday, August 20: I-35 northbound signage will be updated on the 40th Avenue West, 27th Avenue West, and Highway 53 overpass bridges from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday. Traffic will be detoured via the entrance and exit ramps at each location.
- Wednesday, August 21: I-35 southbound from 26th Avenue East to 5th Avenue West will be closed Thursday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. A detour will be in place from 26th Avenue East to 5th Avenue West via London Road and Superior Street.
- Thursday, August 22: I-35 southbound from 5th Avenue West to 27th Avenue West will be closed Friday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. A detour will be in place via 5th Avenue West and then Superior Street to 27th Avenue West.
The Blatnik Bridge will also reopen on Tuesday at 6 a.m.
When the bridge reopens, bypass connections will be opened from I-535 to/from I-35 northbound and southbound.
