Robbery at cigar shop in Hanover is being investigated

HANOVER, Maryland. – Authorities are investigating a robbery that occurred Sunday afternoon at a store in Hanover, Germany, in which four male suspects attacked an employee and stole merchandise from the store.

The incident occurred at the Cigar and Smoke Shop around 2:00 p.m. on August 18. According to police, four suspects entered the store and began stealing merchandise. During the theft, one of the suspects assaulted an employee before all four fled the scene.

Officials were notified of the theft report the same day and investigations are currently underway.

Police are continuing to search for the suspects and are asking anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

  • Baltimore man arrested in Glen Burnie after drugs discovered during traffic stop

    GLEN BURNIE, Maryland. — A Baltimore man was arrested early Sunday morning after a traffic stop in Glen Burnie uncovered a significant amount of drugs, local police said.

    Northern District officers conducted the traffic stop on August 18 at approximately 12:40 a.m. near the intersection of Greenway SE and 1st Avenue. During the stop, officers had sufficient suspicion to search the driver and the vehicle.

    A search of the vehicle revealed 21 individual containers of suspected crack cocaine, a clear plastic bag containing additional suspected crack cocaine, and 26 capsules of suspected heroin. The driver, identified as 54-year-old John Leroy Wrotten of Baltimore, was taken into custody.

    Wrotten was the only occupant of the vehicle at the time of his arrest. He faces a charge of possession with intent to resell.

    According to authorities, the investigation into the incident is still ongoing.

  • Police investigate hit-and-run in Western New York that left pedestrian seriously injured

    WEST NEW YORK, NJ – Authorities are investigating a hit-and-run crash that left a pedestrian seriously injured after he was struck by a motorcycle in West New York Saturday afternoon.

    The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the West New York Police Department were notified of the incident at approximately 3:40 p.m. on August 17. Officers responded to the area between Bergenline Avenue and 57th Street, where they found a 54-year-old Union City man with life-threatening injuries.

    According to police, the occupant(s) of the motorcycle fled the scene on foot after the collision. The injured pedestrian was taken to Jersey City Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition.

    “The investigation is ongoing,” Hudson County Attorney Esther Suarez said in a statement.

    Authorities urge anyone with information about the hit-and-run to contact the Hudson County District Attorney’s Office or the West New York Police Department.
