“Inter Milan is the right place for me”

For goalkeeper Yann Sommer there is no doubt that Inter Milan is the right place for him at this point in his career.

The 35-year-old spoke to the Swiss broadcaster SRF about FCInterNewsafter he announced his retirement from the national team at a press conference. He also said that he got “goose bumps” at the San Siro.

Today, Sommer officially announced that he will no longer play for the Swiss national team.

The former Bayern Munich and Borussia Mönchengladbach player has ended his career at international level after twelve years.

Sommer has already taken part in five international tournaments. Since 2012, he has played a total of 94 international matches for Switzerland.

But now the experienced goalkeeper is making way for the new generation.

However, this does not mean that Sommer does not have more to offer at club level.

The Swiss has already earned a top reputation over the years.

Sommer spent most of his career in the Bundesliga, playing for Gladbach for eight and a half years before moving to Bayern Munich for half a season, where he won his first and only German championship title.

But then last summer, Sommer decided to look for a new challenge.

The Swiss moved to Inter. In his first season at San Siro, he immediately became a regular player.

Sommer won the Serie A title in his first season at Inter, and now he has his sights set on another title.

“I feel very comfortable here at Inter,” explained Sommer.

“And I’m doing very well there, I play as a goalkeeper for a big club.”

“I always said: I will continue playing football as long as I enjoy it,” said Sommer.

“When I step onto the pitch at San Siro, I get goosebumps,” admitted the 35-year-old.

“This shows me that I am in the right place.”

Summer Regarding his retirement from the national team, he said: “Now I have a little more time for other things.”

“Like my family,” explained the Swiss. “But also for the trophies I still want to win with Inter.”
