Public meeting planned on sidewalk project near GEODIS Park

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – The Nashville Department of Transportation (NDOT) is hosting a town hall meeting Monday evening about a sidewalk project for a street near GEODIS Park.

Residents of Allison Place, where there is no sidewalk, are welcome. The street is often used as a shortcut by Nashville SC fans on game days.

The sidewalk expansion will also include a Metro Water Service water main project and storm drainage improvements, according to NDOT.

Monday night’s meeting at the fairgrounds includes a 90 percent revision of the design, NDOT said, with construction expected to begin next spring.

According to Metro’s Sidewalk Project Viewer, a sidewalk project is also planned for Pillow Street, but it’s on hold. The street is just a few blocks north of Allison Place and is also frequented by hordes of soccer fans at GEODIS Park on game days.

“Some of the streets here have sidewalks and that’s wonderful, but then you get to a street like Pillow Street and there’s nobody,” said Casey Overly, who lives on Pillow Street. “So that’s a real problem, especially on busy days and weekends because that’s when people are just walking in the middle of the street.”

The community meeting for Allison Place residents begins Monday evening at 6:30 p.m.
