The start of school is just around the corner. The government is hosting a tax-free weekend this Friday, Saturday and Sunday (August 9-11).According to the Texas Comptroller General, there is no sales tax on the purchase of most clothing, shoes, school supplies and backpacks. that costs less than $100.

What items are included in the Texas tax-free weekend?

All taxpayers are encouraged to continue practicing social distancing, supporting Texas businesses, and saving money on tax-free purchases. During the annual tax-free weekend, clothing, shoes, school supplies and backpacks are included.

Qualified items can be purchased tax-free at a Texas store or from a Texas online or catalog seller.In most cases, you do not need to provide an exemption certificate to the seller to purchase certain items tax-free.
