How to use the chicken statue at Sweetwater Farm in Fields of Mistria

How to use the chicken statue at Sweetwater Farm in Fields of Mistria

While wandering around in Fields of Mistriayou’ve probably noticed the chicken statue near Hayden’s house on Sweetwater Farm. This statue is mysterious and looks mostly decorative, but it’s actually very useful.

I can’t tell you all the things I tried to interact with this chicken statue. I love chickens in general, so naturally I was drawn to the statue from day one. It couldn’t just be decorative, it was too eye-catching! I ended up discovering its usefulness by accident one day when my chickens got into my crop, ate my broccoli, and produced some shiny pearls from an unknown orifice.

Before you can get Shiny Beads, you must unlock the Currency of Care perk from Caldarus’ statue. This is a level 1 perk and costs 25 Essence.

Shiny Beads are dropped by farm animals in Fields of Mistria after they’ve eaten your crops. However, this can prove problematic if you’re trying to fill your coffers by growing high-value vegetables, so I’ve got some tips for you.

First, make sure your animals are fenced in. Although gates are not currently available in Fields of Mistriawe have the advantage of being able to jump over fences, so you can still get to your animals even when they are fully penned in. This prevents them from running freely around your farm and eating your high-value products.

Second, give them their own crops to eat in their own area. My advice here is to plant the cheapest crop for each season and just let them do it. It doesn’t seem to matter what crops they eat, because each animal only drops two Shiny Beads per day, no matter what crop it eats.

Also, don’t let weeds grow in their pen. I’ve learned that livestock always eat mature weeds first before moving on to crops. If they eat a weed first, they won’t eat any crops that day and you’ll lose the beads.

The Chicken Statue works similarly to the Wishing Well and allows you to enter either 10 or 100 Shiny Pearls to receive a reward.

Like the wishing well, the outcome depends on how much you put into it. 100 shiny gems will get you items worth more. Each item is animal related and can be:

  • Recipes from animal products
  • Animal cosmetics
  • Processed animal products such as cheese or butter
  • Meals containing animal products, such as omelettes or hard-boiled eggs
  • Animal feed
