Dunkirk City Council is expected to ratify the sale of the city’s marina tonight.

Steve St. George, Alan Steinberg and John Atzrott, operators of Triple S Marina, LLC, are in the process of purchasing the private portion of the marina. Today’s council resolution states: “If Triple S Marina purchases the private portion … the city would like to enter into a joint lease agreement with Triple S Marina.”

Chadwick Bay Marina, LLC currently owns the private portion and leases the municipal portion. Chadwick Bay Marina was purchased by Peter Smith in the spring of 2023, but local authorities distanced themselves from him after two incidents in July of this year. Smith was charged with allegedly threatening a person he believes stole from him. He was then accused of stuffing fish to win a tournament and was disqualified.

Dunkirk announced in September that it wanted to change ownership of its marina and asked the Chautauqua County Industrial Development Agency for help.

The planned sale of the marina was first announced at the CCIDA board meeting last month.
