Famous Texas restaurant is bankrupt and about to close

Austin, Texas is the former home of a very popular restaurant chain that joins the ranks of many others filing for bankruptcy and permanently closing their restaurants. In some states, all restaurants are already closed or will be soon.

The good news is that not all Texas stores will be forced to close immediately, but sometimes just because you didn’t get the bad news first doesn’t mean the hammer won’t fall hard at some point. Similar to Big Lots, which originally expected 30 closures and later said the number was closer to 300.

According to this KXAN article, Buca di Beppo closed 13 locations without notice shortly before filing for bankruptcy earlier this week. The company is headquartered in Orlando, Florida, but filed for bankruptcy in Dallas and has said it will keep its three Dallas-area restaurants open, as well as its location in The Woodlands.

I’ve never eaten at Buca di Beppo, but as someone who has been to many Italian restaurants, I feel like I’ve missed out on a lot of flair, but maybe not too much flavor.

Closing businesses is a part of doing business, but I really wish they would give better notice of upcoming closings so we can all give these important neighborhood businesses the send-off they deserve.

When I look at these celebrity restaurants in Texas, I can find at least three that I really want to try. But that’s mostly because the food sounds amazing.
