These special honorees are recognized for their professional achievements, academic achievements, leadership qualities, years of service in the field, other affiliations and contributions to their communities. Ms. Trevino has decades of industry experience and has been the successful owner and manager of La Playa Mexican Café in Harlingen, Texas since 2006. Her commitment to high standards is why she often works alongside her staff in the kitchen. Ms. Trevino values the reputation and quality of her restaurant more than financial success and would rather earn less than compromise on any of these invaluable attributes. She is a firm believer that she will never serve anything she wouldn’t eat herself. She has entered into a formal partnership with her two sons, both of whom now own and operate their own restaurants.
Before beginning her professional career, Ms. Trevino earned a bachelor’s degree in law from the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon in Mexico. Before immigrating to the United States in 1985, Ms. Trevino clerked for the Supreme Court in Monterrey, Mexico.
Throughout her illustrious career, Ms. Trevino has received numerous awards and honors and has been recognized worldwide for her achievements. She has been published repeatedly in Latina Women since 2015. In 2016, she was named one of San Antonio’s Most Successful Women by Inspiring Women and crowned Queen of Fiesta San Antonio. This year, she is nominated for the Empowered Woman Award and featured in TIP (Top Industry Professionals) Magazine. She will be honored for her selection as Best Restaurant Owner of the Year this December at the IAOTP Annual Awards Gala at the Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville.
In addition to her successful career, Ms. Trevino is also involved in her community. She has contributed to Fiesta San Antonio, a nonprofit organization that hosts an educational celebration of San Antonio’s diverse cultures and traditions each year.
