Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport left petrol station with fuel pump in the car

Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport left petrol station with fuel pump in the car

We’ve all put the remote control in the fridge or forgotten to lock the front door while distracted. However, the US driver of this Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport almost made a very costly faux pas at a gas station.

He began to drive away from the gas station, the pump nozzle still attached to his car.

But as understandable as this may be, you can’t go wrong with a Bugatti, one of 60 units and worth over $3.6 million.

The latest viral video to make headlines – not unlike the footage of “pregnant” cars in China last week – left us all wincing at what almost happened.

Although the incident is not a recent event (there is a 2022 timestamp in the corner of the video), it was only shown publicly last month.

Picture this: A stunning Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport refueling at a Shell gas station in Costa Mesa, California, USA.

But whether tired, distracted, or simply dazzled by his stunning vehicle, the man filling the tank neglects to pull the pump nozzle before driving off after leaving the workshop.

As he slowly drives off, the fuel line breaks and hangs limply on the gas cap before he realizes something is wrong.

Finally, the penny drops – and the driver probably feels sick too – and he jumps out to assess the damage.

Then he takes the nozzle off the supercar and carefully places it on the ground, seemingly in disbelief.

While many would walk away in this scenario, the station owner who posted the footage on his TikTok account southcoastshelloc claims his responsibility was never questioned.

He told Road & Track: “The customer waited and was kind enough to pay the fines so everything was settled.”

The mistake cost the driver $200.

If you own a Bugatti, you probably have this in the glove compartment.

The online reaction

The online reaction naturally focused on the owner’s account balance.

“His gas station attendant was probably on vacation,” one said.

“He apologizes and buys the whole gas station,” said another.

A third person said it happens more often than one might think.

“The hose is designed to come off in such an event,” they said.

This was certainly not the only strange incident at a gas station recently. A Tesla Cybertruck EV was even seen driving into one of these stations.
