The “Pyramid @ Huaihai” pop-up store will be open for one year at 864 Huaihai Road M.
A new pop-up shop has opened on the iconic Huaihai Road, featuring ancient Egypt-themed merchandise identical to those in the Shanghai Museum’s souvenir shop.
The pop-up shop, called “Pyramid @ Huaihai,” is a collaboration between the Huaihai Group and the museum and is designed to bring the museum’s popular exhibition to the bustling shopping district, according to the Huangpu District Government.
The store, which opened on Monday at 864 Huaihai Road M., offers a range of creative products inspired by the exhibition “On Top of the Pyramid: The Civilization of Ancient Egypt” currently running at the museum.
The store offers more than 600 items, including clothing, home goods, tech accessories and souvenirs such as “plush keychains with Egyptian gods” and “Anubis refrigerator magnets”.
Many of these items are very popular at the museum and are often sold out both online and in stores.
The pop-up shop will be open until August 17, 2025. It will also feature immersive experiences, including staff dressed in Egyptian costumes and a series of themed events.

The store hosts Egyptian culture-related events throughout the year, including workshops, themed promotions and special demonstrations. Visitors can also enjoy creative Egyptian-themed ice cream while browsing the range.
The aim is to create a new cultural and shopping destination in the heart of Shanghai that will give visitors a taste of ancient Egypt while combining the modern flair of Shanghai, the group said.
The initiative is part of Huangpu’s broader efforts to combine cultural and commercial experiences.
The exhibition, which opened on July 19, is the largest of its kind the museum has ever shown, featuring nearly 800 artifacts, many of which are on display in Asia for the first time.
The exhibition is part of the ongoing cultural exchange between China and Egypt and will last until August 2025.
The exhibition has attracted a lot of attention, so the pop-up shop is a unique opportunity for those who have not yet visited the museum to engage with the museum’s contents, said a shop operator.
