While Canada’s annual inflation rate has fallen to its lowest level since March 2021, housing costs are still the main driver of inflation as Canadians face significantly higher rents and mortgage payments.

Although it is worth noting that housing price growth slowed last month compared to the same period last year (6.2% in June), people are still struggling.

The days of finding decent housing at a reasonable price are long gone, especially as rental properties sense the desperation of potential renters and capitalize on it.

The latest is a rental property in Brampton that is trying to specifically target trios for its “big room.”

The Kijiji ad states: “One large room can accommodate a family of three or three boys or three girls.”

After greeting everyone with “friends,” landlord Navdeep goes on to explain in detail in his ad: “We have a large room upstairs that can easily accommodate three family members, or it could be three boys or three girls.”

The photos of the room show a single bed and another single bed, underneath which there appears to be a pull-out bed on wheels.

Since the beds are right next to each other, it is difficult to imagine how the pull-out bed is rolled out every day and where it goes.

There are two dressers, two bedside tables, a clothes rack and a fireplace, so the room could seemingly be used as a living room.

For a change, the photos also show a staircase leading up to the room, so for once it is not a damp basement, but a bright room with a real window.

The ad also boasts about the proximity to grocery stores, public transportation and banks, but does not specify the monthly rent amount.

The Sun contacted us but after we identified ourselves, the original advert was removed and replaced with a new link containing the same information.

Many on the Reddit forum “Slumlords Canada” have taken the landlord to task.

“Just say you want to squeeze three people in there,” wrote Reddit user mybluntside, while another called it “crazy” to cram three people into the room.

Others found it better than other rental properties they had seen recently – perhaps a sign of how low standards have become.

“This is one of the better ones I’ve seen. I’m surprised they didn’t put three bunk beds to accommodate six people.”

Navdeep has another “urgent” offer, which, since the details are the same, appears to be in the same building.

This time it is an upstairs room “for two boys or couples or two girls sharing a room”.
