A Southern California shopper is now a millionaire after purchasing a lottery ticket at an Orange County supermarket that matched all six numbers in Monday night’s drawing.
According to lottery officials, the $44 million Powerball jackpot ticket was purchased at a Ralphs grocery store in the Orange County city of Dana Point.

The numbers drawn were 1, 2, 15, 23 and 28 with a Powerball of 10.
According to the Multi-State Lottery Association, the odds of matching all five numbers and the Powerball number are 1 in 292.2 million.

The winner can choose between an annual prize of $44.3 million or a lump sum of $21.9 million, Powerball officials said. Both prize options are before taxes.

If the winner chooses annual payments, he or she will receive an immediate payout followed by 29 annual payments that increase by 5% each year.
August was a big month for lottery players in Orange County. Another jackpot winner cashed in on Friday’s Mega Millions drawing after purchasing a ticket for over $1 million at Pavilions Place in Newport. The ticket matched five numbers, but was missing the Mega number.
The winning numbers in this drawing were 22, 38, 48, 51, 61 and the mega number 5.
