Restaurant in Colorado vandalized three times: “Pet stones” were thrown through the windows

LAKEWOOD, Colorado – It’s a collection they never wanted, and they hope it doesn’t continue to grow.

The owner of Kickin Chicken in Lakewood says the restaurant has been the victim of vandalism three times recently, with rocks being thrown through the windows. But instead of hitting the owner, they decided to take a humorous approach, giving the rocks names and displaying them in the restaurant.

“So we adopted the first two stones. We named them Bob and Oscar,” owner Ivy Pham told Denver7.

The most recent act of vandalism occurred earlier this month. The third stone will now be added to the restaurant’s “collection.”

“No more rocks as pets. That’s hopefully it. I’m tired of replacing these windows. I’m tired of making little adoption plaques for these rocks. But we’re happy with the three of them. So that’s it,” Pham said, smiling.

The restaurant is clearly not happy about the vandalism. Each time they have had to replace a window, it costs hundreds of dollars, according to Pham. Her most recent Instagram post on the subject began with a terse “Dear A*****.” But the humor remains, as the same post ended with a naming contest for the newest skirt. Denver7 host Jason Gruenauer asked the owner why.

“Whoever did this chose anger and violence. And that ends here with us, so we don’t want to spread that any further,” Pham said. “In my opinion, it takes more energy to stay angry, so let’s just have fun with it and stay positive for the team and just for the community.”

The restaurant hasn’t started a fundraiser or a GoFundMe campaign, but has simply asked the community to come by and support them by ordering some of their chicken (with Japanese or Hawaiian fusion twists).

“Just come by for the good vibes. We’re making chicken. We’re all happy people here. You know, positivity, cracking jokes, and it’s just a good time here. So just come by, support the neighborhood, support a local business, and we would really appreciate that.”

Kickin Chicken is located on South Union Street in Lakewood.
