Yankees among top landing spots for one of baseball’s best pitchers

Yankees among top landing spots for one of baseball’s best pitchers

The New York Yankees have a fantastic 2024 season.

New York is widely considered one of the top contenders to win the World Series this season and has talent all over its team. The Yankees certainly have some room for improvement, but they are at the top of the American League East and in a great position.

However, the joy and success of the 2024 season will fade as winter approaches, and New York will have to make some difficult decisions for the 2025 season and beyond.

New York’s top priority should be to retain superstar outfielder Juan Soto at all costs. After that, the Yankees should look for a way to expand their starting lineup. New York has already been linked to a handful of players and was even named by Bleacher Report’s Zachary Rymer as the 10th most likely landing spot for San Francisco Giants star Blake Snell.

“The Yankees were repeatedly linked to Snell last winter and reportedly picked him up again before the trade deadline,” Rymer said. “But Snell himself has indicated that the Yankees under-tendered him last offseason, and their focus this winter will certainly be on not under-tendering Juan Soto.”

Snell would be a fantastic addition to the Yankees’ rotation, but a deal could likely only happen if they don’t get Soto due to the high cost. Soto is certainly a priority here, but if he signs elsewhere, New York should get Snell ASAP.
