Lupita Nyong’o takes part in the TikTok cat challenge “Quiet Place”

Would your cat survive the apocalyptic world? A quiet place? That would definitely be the case with Lupita Nyong’o.

The Oscar winner recently starred in the prequel film A quiet place: day onewhich shows how the alien apocalypse from John Krasinski’s original films came about. It shows an invasion of Earth by aliens who are hypersensitive to sound and kill anyone who makes noise near them. The key to survival in these films is – as the title suggests – to be as quiet as possible.

The first two A quiet place The films addressed the difficulty of keeping silent in a family with small children. A quiet place: day one adds a new twist: cats. Nyong’o’s character Samira is accompanied throughout the film by her cat Frodo, which inspired viewers to wonder if they could keep their own cats calm should they ever find themselves in a Quiet place situation. So began the Quiet place Cat challenge on TikTok, where participants walk around with a cat in their arms and wait to see if the fur ball makes noises that alert the monsters in the film. This week, Nyong’o tried the challenge herself.

“By popular demand!” the actress said in her TikTok video while holding her cat Yoyo. “We will see if we would survive in A quiet place!”

Lo and behold, Nyong’o ran through her house and back with Yoyo in her arms, and the cat didn’t make a sound. At one point in the video, there is some noise, but according to Nyong’o’s caption, “the sound was me.” Afterward, she had a big smile on her face.

“I am a very proud cat mom here,” she wrote in the caption.

The partnership is fitting, as Nyong’o only fell in love with cats after filming extensively with one of them. A quiet place: day one.

“I was afraid of cats when I started this film,” said the actress Weekly entertainment Earlier this year. “At the end of the movie, I cried when I left the cat behind. Now I’m definitely a cat mom. I’m covered in my cat’s fur all over and I see it as a sign of affection, which I never imagined.”
