Hwacheon presents the Hwacheon Sirius-UM+, a high-precision vertical machining center with a 500mm Y-axis. It is equipped with a wide range of integrated motor spindle options from 20,000 to 45,000 rpm. The Sirius-UM+ is designed to meet the needs of molds and dies and is intended to improve machining accuracy. The high-performance spindle is integrated with Hwacheon’s patented oil jet lubrication technology to optimize performance and force during roughing, which is intended to improve surface finishing results in both short and long operating cycle times. In addition, the short distance between the spindle and the body can help the machine remain stable even after extended hours of operation. The machine features travels of 29.53″ × 19.69″ × 17.72″.

The bilateral gate structure in Sirius-UM is designed to distribute vibration, weight and heat throughout the frame. Finite element analysis methods can help minimize frame distortion that can be caused by machining conditions or the environment. Before the final finishing passes, Sirius-UM+ machines can – using Hwacheon’s Hwacheon Frame Displacement Control System (HFDC) software – dynamically compensate for any changes in machine kinematics that may have occurred due to temperature, vibration or changes to the tool itself.
