Bengaluru engineer inhaled helium gas in hotel room, committed suicide: Report | Bengaluru

An engineer in Bengaluru committed suicide after inhaling deadly helium gas in a hotel room in the city. The deceased was said to have worked with Wipro and the reason behind the suicide is currently under investigation.

According to reports, the 24-year-old man was identified as Yagnik and took a room in a hotel to prepare for his M.Tech exam. When the hotel staff tried to contact him after checking out, Yagnik did not respond. The hotel staff, concerned about his safety, opened his room using a master key. Yagnik was found unconscious on the bed and was immediately rushed to the hospital. On arrival at the hospital, the doctor declared him dead.

The hotel staff immediately informed the local police about the incident. The police found that Yagnik had bought a portable helium cylinder from Peenya and reached the hotel room. He then reportedly put his head in a garbage bag and connected the tube of the helium cylinder to it.

Bengaluru Police have filed an unnatural death report (UDR) and informed his parents about the incident. They are also trying to find out whether exam stress is the actual reason behind his suicide or if there was any other incident that drove him to this extreme step.
