Thieves raid sneaker store Rich LA in South Los Angeles again

SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KABC) — A luxury sneaker store in South Los Angeles was broken into overnight – and it is not the first time the store has been hit by thieves this summer.

According to Los Angeles police, at least eight masked suspects broke into Rich LA on Century Boulevard shortly before 4 a.m. Tuesday.

The burglars broke into the store’s facade in a green Kia and ran inside to loot the store. When officers arrived, the suspects had already disappeared.

The store has only been open for a few months, but Tuesday’s incident was the fourth time it has been affected. The first time was in July and the most recent incident occurred about 10 days ago.

For the third time this summer, thieves have targeted a luxury sneaker store in South Los Angeles and stolen thousands of dollars worth of merchandise. The incident was captured in its entirety on video.

Relatives of the store owner said about $85,000 worth of merchandise was stolen in Tuesday’s incident. No arrests have been made.

The owner of another store in the same mall spoke to Eyewitness News but did not want to show his face on camera.

“I don’t know what we could do to stop this,” he said. “I mean, they’re trying everything. They’re putting up bars … and they’re still taking their cars and driving into the building.”
