LNG infrastructure company GAS Entec, together with its group company AG&P and local partner Issa Haddadin, has been awarded a contract to build an onshore LNG regasification terminal in the Port of Aqaba in Jordan, the company announced on August 20.

The consortium was awarded the tender by the Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC), the state-owned infrastructure company and client of the plant.

The project includes the complete engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) of a 720 million ft3/day Onshore LNG regasification plant including marine works, berth works and other associated components.

Jordan, which relies heavily on natural gas for its energy and industrial needs, faces security of supply issues. The new LNG terminal will give Jordan the flexibility to source LNG from various global suppliers, ensuring a stable and secure energy supply, the company said.

The Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah onshore LNG regasification terminal project complements GAS Entec and AG&P’s existing portfolio, which includes LNG terminals in Indonesia and the Philippines, four FSRU conversions worldwide, two LNG FSU carrier conversions and three LNG bunkering vessels in North America, Japan and Singapore.
