MARCUS ALLARD TRUCK RENTAL: THIS WEEK AT IUN ATHLETICS: August 19-26

The Indiana University Northwest men’s and women’s soccer teams begin their new seasons this week, while the volleyball team looks to continue its strong start to 2024 at the four-game OnSet Tournament in Fort Wayne.

Wednesday, August 21

6:30 p.m. – Women’s soccer at Lawrence Tech

Thursday, August 22

3:00 p.m. – Lawrence Tech vs. Volleyball

6:30 p.m. – Spring Arbor vs. Volleyball

Friday, August 23

11am – Women’s soccer in Michigan-Dearborn

12:15 pm – IU Southeast vs. Volleyball

4:45 p.m. – Columbia International vs. Volleyball

7:00 p.m. – Men’s soccer in Dubuque (training game)

Saturday, August 24

11am – Men’s football at Mount Mercey

Men’s football

Ben Kososkie begins his second year as head coach of the RedHawks and last year he led them to their first CCAC wins. IUN returns its second-leading scorer from last season, Dom Bixemantogether with goalscorers Isaac Macias, Luis Limones, Omar Mehisen, Alan Nunez And Joshua Adepoju.

The first game of the regular season will be at Mount Mercy in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Mustangs had a 9-5-4 record last season and reached the semifinals of their conference tournament.

Women’s football

This is the second meeting between IUN and Lawrence Tech, the first meeting being last season in Crown Point. The game ended in a 2-2 tie in 2023, with the returning goaltender stopping nine shots. Isabel Escalera.

The Blue Devils finished last season with a record of 11-5-4 and reached the WHAC championship game. IUN plays UM Dearborn on Friday, and the Wolverines had a 7-9-2 record in 2023, losing their final three games of the season.

volleyball

After a great start to the 2024 season, the RedHawks look to continue that momentum this weekend in Fort Wayne. IUN will spend Thursday on the campus of Saint Francis taking on Lawrence Tech and Spring Arbor, and Friday at Memorial Coliseum against IU Southeast and Columbia International.

On the first game weekendErica Packwood led the offense with 47 kills, while Briah Strezo added 30. Packwood also had 11 aces and 38 assists, which was second behind Josephine Mulligans 75 templates.

Defensively, Strezo finished with 41 digs, a team-best, and ranked second with six total blocks. Baileigh UporskyMeanwhile, he has recorded a total of 11 blocks, leading the RedHawks.
