SHOPPERS wept as a giant 900-store chain officially closed a store.

Much to the dismay of many locals, Save-A-Lot has closed its store in Sandusky, Ohio, about 60 miles west of Cleveland.

This location closed on Friday with a sign on the door announcing the fate of the store.

“Store closed: Please visit our other locations,” read the sign.

The store’s customers were alerted to the future with other signs put up on Thursday.

These notices said “business closing.”

Save-A-Lot shared the reason for the closure in a statement to the Sandusky Register.

“We take the decision to close all Save A Lot locations very seriously,” the store said.

“Unfortunately, due to changing market dynamics, we had to make the difficult decision to close the store (last weekend).

“We thank our customers for their loyal commitment to this location.”

Locals were shocked by the news and shared their thoughts in a Facebook post.

“The economy is doing great. Never better. Sandusky Save-A-Lot is closing,” one person wrote.

Other locals shared in the comments on the post why they were upset about the news.

“Save a lot had the best customer service in the truest sense of the word. Loved the meat specialties,” said one person.

“Sad to hear that.”

Another person also shared what they would miss most about the store.

“I’ll miss Save A Lot’s T-bones, porterhouses, and rib-eyes. Among other things,” this person said.

“It also saves a lot of time compared to other grocery stores.”

NIGHTMARE IN RETAIL

As The US Sun previously reported, this chain was not the only one to reduce its retail space.

Popular southern furniture store Badcock Furniture & More confirmed it will close all of its 380 stores.

The 120-year-old company is treating its customers to one last big sale before these locations disappear forever.

Big Lots will close nearly 200 stores as the company continues to underperform financially.

The retailer will lose 21% of its 1,389 stores nationwide.
