Patriots make a series of roster changes and place JaQuae Jackson on the injured list

The New England Patriots had a lot to do on Tuesday as they decided to add some new additions to their roster and place a rookie receiver on the injured list.

Here is the full list of the Patriots’ recent transactions:

– Signed fourth-year linebacker Kobe Jones

– Signing of linebacker Christian McCarroll, who will play in his first year as a linebacker

– Claimed WR Matt Landers in the second year

– Placed new wide receiver JaQuae Jackson on the injured list.

The Patriots’ three signings effectively fill the void created by the recent IR move, as well as the remaining space New England created with the departures of Matthew Judon and JuJu Smith-Schuster.

Unfortunately, JaQuae Jackson’s season ends early due to being placed on the injured list, and he will have to wait until the 2025 season to make his NFL debut. We saw some early snaps from Jackson during the Patriots’ first two preseason games, where his only pass was caught by Joe Milton and scored a touchdown against the Carolina Panthers.

With Jackson no longer on the roster, the Patriots have decided to claim WR Matt Landers off the waivers list, a 25-year-old rookie free agent who previously played for the Seattle Seahawks.

The additions of Jones and McCarroll give the Patriots needed depth at linebacker on their 90-man roster. Jones, 26, previously played for several NFL teams as well as the Canadian Football League in 2021, while McCarroll is a rookie entering his first season out of Grand Valley State.

The Patriots will finalize their 53-man roster this time next week, so keep an eye on these new prospects as they have a good chance of making the highly competitive roster.
