Bob Moritz appointed to Walmart Board

Walmart’s board of directors has appointed Bob Moritz, former chairman of PricewaterhouseCoopers, as a new member of the company’s board of directors, effective August 19.

Moritz will be the 12th member of the Board of Directors. He will be a member of the Audit Committee and the Technology and eCommerce Committee.

With his history at the helm of PwC, his strategic, global perspective and his highly relevant business leadership experience, he is the ideal candidate to help us continue our journey to be the best we can be,” said Greg Penner, Chairman of Walmart’s Board of Directors.

“Bob brings a wealth of global business experience to our board. From his long career at PwC, he brings international leadership experience and deep financial expertise across multiple industries and regions of the world. We are very pleased to have him join us and apply his expertise to serve Walmart employees, customers and shareholders,” said Tom Horton, lead independent director on Walmart’s board.

I look forward to joining my fellow board members in continuing Walmart’s mission to help people save money and live better,” said Bob Moritz, Walmart board member.

In June 2024, Moritz retired from PwC after 39 years in various roles, including US chairman and senior partner, and most recently as the firm’s global chairman. He joined PwC in 1985 and became a partner in 1995. He has a background in audit and assurance and primarily serves clients in the financial services, banking and capital markets sectors.

During his career, Moritz spent three years at PwC Japan, working with European and US financial services firms in Asia. Before taking on the global role, he led the US firm PwC for seven years as Chairman and Senior Partner.

In addition to his leadership role at PwC, he has served in and led a variety of philanthropic roles, including serving on the board of Generation Unlimited and as a member of the International Business Council of the World Economic Forum. He also currently serves on the board of the State University of New York at Oswego Foundation.
