Ghost kitchen operator One Kitchen uses robots at Walmart location

One Kitchen uses a robot server in a Walmart store.

Customers at a ghost kitchen in a Walmart store in Illinois have a shiny new beverage dispenser.

One Kitchen, which operates 240 Ghost Kitchen locations across the U.S., uses an AI-equipped ADAM robotic beverage system from Richtech Robotics at a location within a Walmart Store in Rockford, Illinois. This is the second installation as part of a planned rollout to 240 One Kitchen locations across the U.S.

Equipped with AI technology, ADAM serves its customers a selection of coffee and boba drinks. The robot is expected to serve 100 to 200 cups of coffee and tea per day.

One Kitchen restaurants offer multiple national and local brands in a single kitchen. The Walmart in Rockford will also install a Matradee L robotic food server from Richtech Robotics and a DUST-E S robotic floor cleaner.

“We continue to reach new milestones, this time celebrating the first humanoid beverage robot in the state of Illinois,” said Matt Casella, President of Richtech Robotics.

Walmart brings ghost kitchen concept to US stores

Walmart is no newcomer to offering ghost kitchens in its stores. The discount giant opened its first ghost kitchen, powered by the Ghost Kitchens Brands platform, in its Rochester, NY store in 2021.

The site was built on a existing cooperation between Walmart Canada and the scalable ghost kitchen operator. Walmart has since expanded its ghost kitchen fleet in the US, including Nathan’s Famous Locationsbest known for its signature hot dogs and wavy fries in US and Canadian stores.
