Montana climber reported missing in Glacier National Park

Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) – 38-year-old Dennis Marcuccio of Whitefish is reported missing while rock climbing in Glacier National Park.

I spoke with park spokesperson Autumn Sifuentes on Wednesday about the search for Marcuccio.

The search for the missing Whitefish Man in Glacier National Park has begun

“Marcuccio separated from his group while hiking from Heaven’s Peak to McPartland Peak,” Sifuentes began. “He was last seen on the trail to McPartland. Marcuccio did not arrive at the meeting point as planned, so park rangers were alerted Sunday evening.”

He hiked from Heaven’s Peak to McPartland Peak

Sifuentes provided Marcuccio’s description as rangers continued their search.

“He is a 32-year-old white male with short brown hair, brown eyes, 6’1″ tall, approximately 175 pounds, possibly wearing brown shorts and a brown and white checked shirt,” she said.

She said Whitefish-based Two Bear Air is already assisting in the search.

Two Bear Air and the US Forest Service are searching the area

“Two Bear Air planes are beginning flights over the Heavens Peak area,” she said. “On Monday, rangers and search teams searched the area. Yesterday (Tuesday), two Bear Air planes flew over the area again. A U.S. Forest Service helicopter will help bring search teams to the area and will fly over the area today to search for Marcuccio.”

From the Two Bear Air website;

“Two Bear Air Rescue, based near Whitefish, Montana, provides world-class air support for search and rescue missions throughout the Northwestern United States. Whitefish philanthropist Michael Goguen covers all costs of this program, so there is NO cost to the taxpayer.”
