Are you flying to Disney World soon?

Flying can be stressful, especially when you think about baggage fees, connecting flights and possible delays. A problem you may not have expected, but one you will definitely encounter when flying through Orlando Airport!

As we said before, there is one thing you may not have considered when flying through Orlando International Airport (MCO) — the security lines.

MCO security line

Orlando International Airport is one of the busiest airports in the U.S. thanks to its proximity to all the theme parks. This means the airport is always teeming with families, solo travelers, business travelers, and everyone in between. While MCO is pretty good at keeping traffic moving, the security lines can still surprise you, especially during peak travel times.

And here’s the thing: The lines at security can be much longer than expected. You know how it is – you think you’ve given yourself plenty of time, but suddenly you’re sweating as the minutes tick by and the line barely moves. The frustration is real, and the risk of missing your flight is just as great.

The good news, however, is that you don’t have to be surprised! MCO has a tool on its website that allows you to get live updates on security check wait times.

Seriously, you’ll want to take advantage of it because it could be your vacation lifesaver. A quick look at the site before you leave home can give you a hint of what to expect so you can adjust your timing accordingly.

But that’s not all. MCO also offers FREE security screening appointments. This service is called “MCO Reserve” and allows you to book a time slot for expedited security screening. Think of it like a FastPass for airport security. Simply book your time in advance, show up at the appointed time and go through with ease.

Just make sure you don’t rush it, even when using these tools. Trust me, Orlando traffic can be unpredictable, and the last thing you want is to race to the airport and then get stuck in a line that moves slower than a Disney World park line on a hot summer day. Make sure you allow plenty of time to get to the airport (at least two hours before your flight for domestic flights and three hours for international flights).
