Amberley Village resident says his home was burgled; police investigate

CINCINNATI (WXIX) – An Amberley Village resident says he feels violated after his home was recently broken into.

The victim says he lived in Amberley Village for about nine years and never had any problems until someone targeted his home on Farm Acres Drive last Thursday.

“I don’t know if I’m being watched every day. I don’t know if they plan to do it again. They know where I live now,” he says. “I feel very mistreated. I feel like I’m living in a glass house, especially because they’re still out there.”

He says when he got home, he noticed that a cupboard door that was normally closed was open. The freezer door was also open.

“I ran from one side of the house to the other, checking every bedroom. Everything was upside down, everything was turned inside out, and then I called the police,” he recalls.

About $3,000 in cash and some other items from the home were stolen. It is unknown who targeted the victim and why. Police say they are still investigating.

In the meantime, the victim says he has already taken steps to secure his home.

“Since then, we have installed a security system, set up cameras and done our part to hopefully prevent something like this from happening again,” he says.

Amberley Village has seen a number of burglaries. Police warned residents last autumn of a series of break-ins believed to be linked to an international theft ring.

It is currently unclear whether this incident is related to this group.
