ATASCADERO — The San Luis Obispo County Veterans Services Office (VSO) announced it has accepted a $400 donation from Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post #2814 in Atascadero. This donation will help stock the VSO’s veterans food bank, support local veterans and address the pressing issue of veteran homelessness in the county.

The donation came from a successful fundraiser organized by VFW Post #2814, which featured the Shawn Clark Family Band. As a sign of their generous support, the band donated their performance fees to the fundraiser, further increasing the impact of the event. A 50/50 raffle was also held, with proceeds contributing to the total donation amount.

Commander JonPaul Bockman of VFW Post #2814 expressed his gratitude and called on other veterans service organizations to take action.

“Our veterans have given so much to our country and it is our duty to support them in their time of need,” said Bockman. “We are incredibly grateful to the Shawn Clark Family Band for their generous donation and to everyone who participated in the raffle. We hope this donation inspires other veterans’ service organizations in the area to join us in the fight against veteran homelessness. Together, we can make a real difference and ensure that no veteran has to face hunger or homelessness.”

The event and donation reflect VFW Post #2814’s ongoing commitment to the veteran community. The post aims to foster a spirit of cooperation and solidarity among local organizations by meeting immediate needs through food distribution.

During regular hours, the pantry is located in front of the Veterans Services Office on Grand Avenue and is open to veterans who need non-perishable food for themselves and their families.
