HARRISONBURG, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – Riner Rentals received a national award for workplace electric vehicle charging at the Green Transportation Summit and Expo in Tacoma, Washington, on Wednesday.

The award recognizes the company’s commitment to sustainability in the community and to workplace charging in its office.

Virginia Clean Cities nominated the Harrisonburg-based company for the 13th annual Equitable Mobility Powering Opportunities for Workplace Electrification Readiness (EMPOWER) Workplace Charging Program Exemplary Company.

The Green Transportation Summit and Expo is an annual gathering of fleets, community organizations, industry, policy makers and thought leaders committed to advancing environmentally friendly transportation.

“I find it’s a better driving experience, less maintenance and less pollution. We considered electrifying the entire fleet and took the plunge,” said owner Paul Riner. “Whatever we can do to show other small businesses that electrifying their fleet is a viable and beneficial option, we’re happy to share our experiences with them. We’re committed to reducing our carbon footprint and being good neighbors in the community.”

Opened in 1999, Riner Rentals is a property rental and management company for students and families. The company employs 12 people.
