The San Angelo/Tom Green County Health Department regularly inspects restaurants and food establishments to ensure they comply with state food safety requirements.
Regular checks are essential to prevent the spread of foodborne diseases through contamination and improper handling, storage and hygiene.
Below are the results of food retailers, grocery stores, snack bars, and school and daycare centers that were inspected during the week of July 21-27.
The Standard-Times obtained the information through a public records request.
Disclaimer: On any given day, a facility may have fewer or more violations than were found during the last inspection. An inspection conducted on a given day may not be representative of general, long-term conditions at the facility. Some more recent follow-up inspections may not be included here.
Division of Environmental Health inspectors fill out one page of these reports. Other health departments in Texas, such as those in Taylor and Wichita counties, fill out multiple pages of details, providing the public with more information about local food-handling establishments.
Any issues, comments or corrections will be communicated to local restaurants, said Sandra Villarreal, San Angelo’s health services director.
All food establishments are inspected under the Texas Food Establishment Rules adopted by the City of San Angelo.
