Update: Redwood City man identified dead in plane crash at Minden-Tahoe Airport

Update: The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has identified the pilot who died in Monday’s plane crash at Minden-Tahoe Airport as Randal G. Abraham, 68, of Redwood City, Calif. Abraham was pronounced dead at the scene.

The only passenger on the plane was identified as 52-year-old Brandt Wood of Gardnerville. Wood was transported by the East Fork Fire Department to Renown, where he was treated for injuries sustained in the crash.

Minden-Tahoe Airport is open.

One person was killed in a plane crash at Minden-Tahoe Airport on Tuesday morning, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office confirmed on its social media page.



The airport is closed pending an investigation into the crash. Both the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board have been notified.

Emergency crews responded to a report of a plane crash with injuries at Minden-Tahoe Airport around 8:20 a.m. Tuesday.

East Fork firefighters and Douglas County Sheriff’s officers arrived at the scene to find the plane hanging upside down.

According to the NTSB, the aircraft in question was an amateur design by Lockwood Air Cam.

According to initial reports from the scene, two people were on the plane at the time of the crash. One person was taken by ambulance from East Fork to Renown Regional Medical Center with a broken leg.
