Do you prefer shopping at Walmart or Target? While many people prefer the trendier Minnesota-based Target, the numbers show that Walmart is definitely the leading retail brand. You’ll love the changes no matter which store you prefer.

Target reports that more than 30 million people shop in its stores each week; the company operates about 2,000 locations in the U.S. In comparison, Walmart has nearly five times as many stores and welcomes 37 million customers daily, according to Demand Sage.

I rarely go into a store to look around. I like to go in, get what I need, and leave. I’ve never timed it, but I’d bet my salary that I don’t spend nearly as much time doing it as most shoppers.

A new report shows that the average Walmart customer spends 31.8 minutes browsing the shelves. Target shoppers are a bit faster, spending just 28.7 minutes shopping.

Just a heads up: If you want to avoid the crowds and get the best selection, Tuesday is the best day to shop.

Walmart has cut prices on more than 7,000 products. According to Axios, this is being done to “maintain what it calls a ‘competitive price differential’ with its competitors.”

Target has now discounted more than 5,000 products. In a Yahoo Finance article, Joseph Feldman, an analyst at Telsey Advisory Group, said the strategy is working: “Consumers are showing resilience as they continue to seek value and focus on essentials while spending selectively on unnecessary items.”
