Columbia County welcomes brand new Chipotle restaurant to Augusta area

One of the country’s most popular Tex-Mex restaurant chains opens in Columbia County on Thursday.

The third Chipotle location in the Augusta area will be located in the Mullins Colony shopping center in Evans, 710 Province Way. The Augusta Chronicle first reported on the new location in January.

The location will feature drive-thru “Chipotlanes.” Customers who order through the restaurant’s mobile app or website will be able to pick up their food at the Chipotlane without leaving their car.

The location is hiring for approximately 30 open positions in Evans. For more information, visit jobs.chipotle.com.

Augusta got its first and currently only Chipotle in 2018 at the Augusta Exchange, 229 Robert C. Daniel Jr. Parkway. The only other Chipotle in the Augusta area is at 362 E. Martintown Rd. in North Augusta. A location that opened in Aiken in 2016 closed in 2018. Other locations near Augusta are in Athens and in Columbia, SC

Chipotle shares fell 7% on August 13 after the company announced the resignation of its CEO Brian Niccol, who will take on the same role at Starbucks starting in September.

Chipotle opened its first restaurant in Denver in 1993. Since then, the company has grown to over 3,300 locations across the continental United States, including nearly 100 in Georgia. All locations are company-owned; the company does not offer franchises.
