Oneida Indian Nation begins expansion

Groundbreaking for Point Place Casino

BRIDGEPORT, NY – The Oneida Indian Nation held a groundbreaking event at Point Place Casino to celebrate a major expansion at the property. Local elected officials, community leaders, construction partners and team members gathered at the casino to celebrate the Nation’s more than $50 million investment in the expansion, their team and the economic development of Madison County.

The Point Place Casino expansion includes:

  • Doubling the size of the existing playing area
  • A new multi-storey hotel with 100 rooms
  • A new restaurant
  • A new branch of the Perfect Pour Café in the hotel lobby
  • An event room
  • An update to the Fireside Lounge, doubling its current size and offering a 360-degree view of the wood-burning fireplace with cozy new seating

In addition to the many new amenities the expansion will bring to Point Place Casino, the Oneida Indian Tribe’s investment in the property will also create over 200 construction jobs, boost regional tourism and create new opportunities for Turning Stone Enterprises team members.

“When we built Point Place Casino six years ago, we had a vision of what it could become as an entertainment destination and economic engine for this community,” said Ray Halbritter, representative of the Oneida Indian Nation and CEO of Turning Stone Enterprises. “As with everything we do, that vision was guided by the understanding that if you don’t grow, you go backwards. That’s our motto for all of our businesses and the reason we are so committed to constant diversification and growth.”

“The Oneidas have been friends and partners since the Revolutionary War and when we work together we can achieve success,” said New York State Senator Joseph Griffo. “The $50 million investment here at Point Place Casino will continue to build on Turning Stone Enterprises and all the good things the nation has done to make this a destination and attraction that deserves entertainment and excitement. It’s the total experience.”

“Today’s groundbreaking is not just about a new hotel, expanding existing space or renovations, but also about expanding opportunities and investing in the future of Madison County and the surrounding region,” said New York State Assemblymember Brian Miller.

“The Oneida Indian Nation has created many good things that have impacted this region and benefited all of us, from helping to achieve American independence two and a half centuries ago to the significant economic role it plays in our county today,” said Jim Cunningham, chairman of the Madison County Board of Supervisors. “It has created so many good jobs in Central New York and we are so fortunate to have the Nation here.”

“The expansion of Point Place Casino and the opening of our first hotel in the City of Sullivan will have a tremendous impact on our city and county,” said Sullivan City Councilman Thomas Daviau. “It will bring a new influx of visitors and hundreds of new jobs.”

“On behalf of the more than 7,000 construction workers who work in our construction trades association, I want to thank Representative Halbritter, the leadership of the Oneida Indian Nation and every team member at Turning Stone Enterprises,” said Greg Lancette, president of the Central-Northern New York Construction Trades Association. “The critical roles we play together bring us back to these facilities as we are here today. It is success building on success.”

The Oneida Indian Nation has continually invested in Point Place Casino since it opened in 2018, including two gaming floor expansions, the addition of a sportsbook and the creation of the Perfect Pour Café. The growth is in line with the Nation’s many investments throughout the region, including the creation of the new Play On gaming machine at the Verona Crossroads shopping center and the largest development of the Turning Stone Resort Casino in two decades.
