NEW RESTAURANT BY JUNGSIK
Chef Jungsik Yim, founder of the two-star Jungsik on Hudson, has opened SEA on West 30th Street with chef Jun Hee Park. Chef Yim has traveled extensively throughout Southeast Asia and opened the new restaurant as a tribute to its variety of exciting flavors: hot, salty, sweet, spicy. SEA has a raw bar, small and share plates, and a beverage program. According to The Times, they will expand to the ground floor next year with an open kitchen and a 15-seat counter for special dinners.

A DEVOTED METS FAN AMONG US
Tracy Nieporent of the Tribeca Grill is interviewed at Citi Field by Jay Horwitz, a New York Mets historian and longtime public relations director. He’s been a fan since the very beginning — even before Shea Stadium. (Tracy is so fast and so entertaining, it’s worth watching, especially if you’re a fan of the orange and blue yourself.) His father took him to a doubleheader at the Polo Grounds on August 4, 1962, when he was 9 years old; the second game went into the 14th inning and he never left his seat. He’s been there ever since, devotedly. “I have a natural inclination to root for the underdogs,” he says. “We all have metabolisms (get it?) … I take a drug called metformin to maintain my blood sugar levels. If it was called Yankeeformin, I wouldn’t take it.”

Electronic waste collection campaign on 15 September
The LES Ecology Center is hosting an e-waste collection event outside Washington Market Park on Sunday, September 15th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to encourage responsible disposal of unwanted electronics. The group will help people drop off their unwanted electronics and at the end of the event will pack everything by category onto wooden pallets for transport. More information can be found here and the flyer below will show you what they’re taking.
