“We are thrilled to bring this new show – the Katy Home Improvement Expo – to our community with free admission, just in time for fall home renovations and the holidays,” said Robyn Cade, president of RJC Productions and founder of the Spring Katy Home & Garden Show. “This event is the perfect time for homeowners and DIYers to discover the latest home improvement trends, products and services. Our goal is to inspire attendees and provide them with the knowledge and resources they need to transform their living spaces. We look forward to a successful event that showcases the best the home improvement industry has to offer.”

There will be numerous special guest speakers throughout the weekend covering a wide range of wellness, gardening and inspiration topics, including Charley Fisher of Urban Garden Plants, who will help homeowners get started planning their fall garden with two free workshops:

Just add water: A fall garden starter kit including a complete starter kit with seedlings, plants and fall flowers.

· The Beginner’s Guide to Fall Container Plants. Both workshops are free and meet daily, but space is limited, so register with Urban Garden Plants at urbangardenplants.com/event-list.

The Posh Plank will present a range of fall and holiday board meal ideas at the Charcuterie BOARDing School. And a delicious sourdough and gut health workshop will be presented by health and wellness expert and enthusiast Andrea Bohn of Juice Plus. Pick up everything you need for bread making and baking at home at the expo, including a mixing bowl, starter culture, Dutch whisk, dish towel, mini spatula and mason jar, plus 103-year-old sourdough dry milk to keep the process going. Husband and wife team Kellie and Jason Sartain, owners of Sartain’s Awesome Shoppe in Bellville, which specialises in custom woodwork, will entertain and educate you in their workshop, “How to Survive… Renovating a Home with a Spouse!” The Sartains’ current project is a complete renovation of an old farmhouse for their most difficult client yet… themselves. Hear everything from unexpected structural surprises to lively discussions about design decisions, all while raising six children – plenty of humour awaits. Workshops will take place on Saturday 7 September at 12pm and Sunday 8 September at 1pm.

Bring the whole family. There’s plenty for younger ones to explore, such as the Tinker Town Kid’s Zone themed area on Level 2 and the Youth Entrepreneur Market, which gives students ages 6-17 the opportunity to market their own youth business, featuring a wide range of products designed, marketed and run by young people in the community.
